TCM Best of Awards
#TCMBestof2019 – Most Popular Driver Award Results; Eighth Year Produces Closest Finish in Award History
The 2019 TCM Most Popular Driver Award proved to be the closest race in the eight year history of the award. Bringing in a record amount of nominations, the award was won in the final hours with four fan bases from the four Atlantic Provinces throwing their support behind their drivers!
The biggest change in 2019 was the addition of the email verification to the vote. While numbers were a bit lower than previous years, it prevented fans from “stuffing the ballot box” with fake emails or emails of folks who did not authorize the use of their address. It brought some more credibility to the award as it entered its eighth year – and it’s closest finish since 2014.
TCM Most Popular Driver Voting Format:
Round One – All of the 150 nominated drivers are placed on the same ballot. After Round One of voting, the field will be trimmed to the top 25 drivers for the second round of voting. Voting closes for Round One on Wednesday, October 23rd at NOON Atlantic.
BACK FOR 2019 – for the first round only, because there are so many drivers on the ballot, you can select up to three drivers in the first round. You can select one if you wish but the option is open to select up to three from the list. This choice will be in play for the first round only. Team up with other drivers on your campaigns, get your fans and theirs to help out to get to the second round!
The Round Two Ballot for the TCM Best of 2019 Awards runs from Wednesday, October 23rd to Wednesday, November 6th at Noon Atlantic.
The Round Three Ballot for the TCM Best of 2019 Awards runs from Thursday, November 7th to Friday, November 22nd at Noon Atlantic.

TCM Round Three Notes:
- 775 votes cast
- Megan Parrott’s margin of victory was two votes over Randy Millar and three over Ashton Tucker.
- The margin of victory in the final round was the closest since 2014 when Sarah McKay won the award over Brad Eddy by five votes.
- Megan Parrott was strong out of the gate early, positioning herself in the top three from the opening of final round voting. It was a push on the last weekend that put her on top.
- Sara Thorne made the biggest move in the last week, going from seventh to fourth in the final days of voting.
- Randy Millar led “the most laps” in the final round vote, leading from near the end of Week One to five days to go. He, Parrott and Tucker would swap the lead between them over the final days before Parrott edged out the lead hours before the poll closed.
- The “percentage of total votes” number may be a bit deceiving; but with over 2,400 votes cast over the three rounds, the difference between first and fifth in total votes was approximately 40 votes over the three rounds. The key? Finish strong.

TCM Winner Notes:
-
- Megan Parrott is the first driver from Nova Scotia to win the TCM Most Popular Driver Award. This is her first TCM Best of Racing Award win.
- Randy Millar and Megan Parrott each have five appearances on the final ballot of the TCM Most Popular Driver Award, each appearing from 2015 to 2019. The five appearances are the most of any driver in the eight years of the award.
- Megan Parrott completed her sophomore season in a Late Model Sportsman car at Scotia Speedworld in 2019, driving for Mitch Blanchard and the Number One Racing team. Parrott has two Late Model feature victories on her resume and finished third in the Sportsman standings at her home track this past season.
