Owen Mahar Makes Finals in North American Contest
Team Release
HUBLEY, NS (November 18, 2019) – Owen Mahar, a 13-year-old race car driver from Hubley, has made the final three in a motorsports contest being held by U.S.-based inTech Trailers. Owen has made the finals of MAX THE TACH IV through a series of elimination rounds which started with 1,500 contestants, narrowed to 25, then to 10, and now to three.
Besides the incredible achievement of making it into the top three, Owen is the first Canadian to even advance to the top 10. He is the only stock car racer in the finals and faces two female road racers from the U.S. In each round, Owen has made a short video speaking about himself and why he should be inTech’s new brand ambassador. Results are determined by the number of votes each participant receives. The grand prize of the grassroots racing contest is a new 24′ inTech trailer valued at $22,000.00 (USD).
The final round of voting opens today and runs through December 9; the winner will be announced December 13 at the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Trade Show in Indianapolis, IN. Owen will be on hand for the announcement as travel to the show is part of his prize pack for making the top three.
“I’m so excited and honored to have this opportunity to become a brand ambassador for inTech Trailers,” said Owen. “It would be an amazing privilege to showcase their product at all the events I enter in Canada and the U.S. This trailer would be a huge help in my dream of advancing my racing career. I want to thank everyone who has supported me so far, as well as those who vote for me in this final round.”
Those who wish to support Owen in the inTech Trailers MAX THE TACH IV contest can vote for him as many as five times by visiting the following link: https://www.intechtrailers.com/max-the-tach.
Owen is a third-generation racer, the son of Daryl Mahar and grandson of Don Mahar – both well-known in Maritime motorsports. With racing a family affair, Owen has been around stock car tracks since he was a newborn and at just eight years old decided he wanted to race cars. He drives for the family-owned DM Motorsports – starting with a Go-Kart in 2014 and soon adding a Bandolero Car to the stable. Between the two cars, from 2016 to 2018, he won multiple races and championships competing at tracks all over North America.
In 2019 – his busiest and best year yet, he made his first Legends Cars start, ran more than 100 races in the three divisions with 20 wins and over 50 top-three podium finishes. Over the next few years, he hopes to further his Legends Cars career and eventually move into Pro Stock – the Maritimes top stock racing division. Academically Owen excels as well; he is a Junior High student with honors. He is also community-minded with a keen interest in helping those who are less fortunate.
Even at his young age, Owen is an experienced brand ambassador. Auto racing relies heavily on corporate sponsorship and Owen’s natural tendencies to promote his sponsors well have earned him high praise.
“We’ve been a supporter of DM Motorsports for almost 10 years and the referral business has been incredible,” said Paul Clark, owner of Inglis Jewellers. “DM Motorsports and Owen have been great brand ambassadors. We view this relationship as a key part of our marketing strategy. Great job, Owen.”
“Our Steele Mazda family is proud to have Owen represent our brand so well,” said Patrick Lawrence, General Manager of Steele Mazda. “We wish him continued success in this contest as the only Canadian to make the top three in North America.”
“Owen has been an excellent brand ambassador for Maritime Fuels,” said Alexa Kanchuk, Marketing Coordinator for Maritime Fuels. “He represents us in the racing community and the community at large. We are proud to support such a talented young athlete on his way to the top.”
