The opening round of the 2019 TCM Best of Racing Awards are here!

The first ballot, which will run until Wednesday, October 23rd at Noon Atlantic, consists of four different awards, including the first round of the TCM Most Popular Driver Award voting.

Read below about the Most Popular Driver format with a returning first round twist for 2019, the nominees for the TCM Fan Favorite Short Tracks and cast your vote for in the first round of the 2019 TCM Best of Racing Awards!

You can also submit a consideration for the Kings County Performance Rookie of the Year and Dulux Paints Breakout Performer of the Year Awards. While not mandatory, your write in could help us narrow our field to ten for the Round Three ballot.

TCM Most Popular Driver Voting Format:

Round One – All of the 150 nominated drivers are placed on the same ballot. After Round One of voting, the field will be trimmed to the top 25 drivers for the second round of voting. Voting closes for Round One on Wednesday, October 23rd at NOON Atlantic.

BACK FOR 2019 – for the first round only, because there are so many drivers on the ballot, you can select up to three drivers in the first round. You can select one if you wish but the option is open to select up to three from the list. This choice will be in play for the first round only. Team up with other drivers on your campaigns, get your fans and theirs to help out to get to the second round!

The Round Two Ballot for the TCM Best of 2019 Awards runs from Wednesday, October 23rd to Wednesday, November 6th at Noon Atlantic.

The Round Three Ballot for the TCM Best of 2019 Awards runs from Wednesday, November 6th to Wednesday, November 20th at Noon Atlantic.

TCM Fan Favorite Weekly Short Track Nominees:

Oyster Bed Speedway – Oyster Bed Bridge, Prince Edward Island

Operates from May to September with most races taking place on Saturday nights at 6pm. Home to four divisions weekly, including Mini Stocks, Outlaws, Street Stocks and Pro Stocks. Home to races on the Eastern Super Mini Cup Series, Maritime League of Legends Tour and Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour. The track added a house Bandolero and Legend division in 2019, crowning track champions in both for the first year. Oyster Bed Speedway also hosts Demolition events in May and September.

Petty International Raceway in River Glade, NB (Five time winner of Fan Favorite Short Track)

Located in the shadows of Moncton, New Brunswick, Petty International Raceway has six house divisions – the Leisure Days RV Bandoleros, Mister Transmission Mini Stock, Westwood Estates Street Stocks, AE McKay Builders Late Model Sportsman, Modifieds and Kings County Performance Women on Wheels. Petty Raceway also hosts three touring series each season: Passione Flooring & Interiors East Coast Mini Stock Tour, Maritime League of Legends and Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour and is home to the Mike Stevens Memorial and River Glade International.  The track operates race events from May to September. With the track adding events in 2019, pushing their schedule to more than ten weekends a year, the track has been moved to the TCM Fan Favorite Weekly Short Track Award in 2019.

Scotia Speedword – Enfield, Nova Scotia (Three Time Winner – 2015, 2017, 2018)

Operates from May to September with most races taking place on Friday nights at 7pm. Home to five divisions weekly, including Bandoleros (Outlaw, Bandit, Beginner), Legends, Thunder, Lightning and Sportsman. Home to races on the Passione Flooring & Interiors East Coast Mini Stock Tour, Maritime League of Legends Tour and Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour. Also hosts the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience. Home of the Toromont Cat 250, the Shriners Classic for Sportsman, the $20/Carload Night and hosted Fanfest for a fifth straight year in 2019.

Speedway 660 – Geary, New Brunswick (2014 and 2016 Winner)

Operates from May to September with most races taking place on Saturday nights at 6:30pm. Home to four divisions weekly, including Sharp Shooters, Street Stock, Sportsman and Pro Stock. Home to races on the Maritime League of Legends Tour, Atlantic Modified Tour and Passione Flooring & Interiors East Coast Mini Stock Tour. Also hosts Bandolero racing. Home of Speedweekend and McLaughlin Roof Trusses 250.

TCM Monthly Operating Short Track (Six to ten stock car weekends a year):

Eastbound Park – Avondale, NL

Eastbound Park is Newfoundland’s premiere paved stock car oval with racing from May to September. Divisions include the Sportsman, Hanlon Realty Legends, Sunlife Financial Bandoleros and Atlantic Dodge Dealers Mini Stocks. The race track is sanctioned by the NASCAR Home Tracks and the NASCAR Whelen All American Series, along with US Legend Cars International and INEX.

Lake Doucette Motor Speedway in Salmon River, NS

A short drive from Yarmouth lies the unique 1/2-mile oval of Lake Doucette Motor Speedway. Running a Four Cylinder (Men’s and Women’s), Sportsman and V8 Class, the track typically contests races every second Sunday afternoon at 1pm. The track is club run, overseen by the Southwest Stock Car Association.

Thunder Valley Speedway in Jumper’s Brook, NL

In it’s fourth year led by Brad and Amy Melendy and Sideways Motorsports, Thunder Valley Speedway hosted six race weekends which included the Sportsman, Hobby Stock, Bomber and Bandolero classes. The track is located just outside of Bishop’s Falls, NL.

Valley Raceway in Melvern Square, NS

Nestled in the Annapolis Valley, just outside of Kingston, sits Valley Raceway. Nova Scotia’s only dirt track hosts Four Cylinder, V8, Trucks and Modified class racing every second Sunday at 1pm with a growing fan base and car count showing up to compete each week.

TCM Special Events Track (Five or Less Stock Car Weekends):

Riverside International Speedway in James River, NS (Five-time winner)

Riverside International Speedway hosts the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour three times a season, including the iconic IWK 250 in July. The NAPA Sportsman Series, Maritime League of Legends and the Passione Flooring & Interiors East Coast Mini Stocks are regular visitors to the high banked oval in James River, Nova Scotia. The track is also the only Atlantic Canadian venue for the NASCAR Pinty’s Series. In 2019, the track hosted Kenny Wallace for a second straight year and saw Matt Minglewood take to the stage during their annual IWK 250 Tailgate Party. Racing takes place at the track from June to September.

Shediac’s Centre for Speed in Grand-Barachois, NB

The Atlantic Championships remains the highlight stock car event on the slate at the Grand-Barachois, NB track. While music events, demolitions and drifting highlight the schedule at the oval, the annual October event remains a favorite on many racer’s schedules.

Speedway Miramichi in Miramichi, NB

Changing ownership in 2015 from Jason Carnahan to Barry Richard, Speedway Miramichi remains a place for both the stock car and demolition enthusiast alike. The track also hosts periodic stock car racing for Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, the Atlantic Modified Tour and Dukes from May to October.

Sydney Speedway in Sydney, NS

The oval on Grand Lake Road in Sydney, Nova Scotia reopened under the ownership of Greg Dowe to a limited schedule in 2019. The track hosts Mini Stock, Legend, Bandolero and Bomber racing with select appearances from the Sportsman and Street Stock divisions. The track hosted three weekends of stock car racing in its return!
