REMINDER: Jeff Dillman Racing Announces Fundraiser for Friday, May 10th

(April 28th, 2013) – Jeff Dillman wants to etch his name alongside stock car greats like Shawn Turple, Lonnie Sommerville and Craig Slaunwhite as Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year winners on the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour. To do that though, the team has to secure some funding for the full 12-race schedule before that dream has the potential to be realized.

To help with his goal, Dillman and his Jeff Dillman Racing team are hosting a fundraising auction on Friday. May 10th at Shooter’s Bar and Grill at 194 Highway 2 in Enfield. Viewing for the auction will take place at 6:30pm with Tim Terry, the Voice of the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour, having the call of the auction at 7pm. Funds raised at the event will go towards getting the #08 Ford Fusion Pro Stock to the track each week.

The plan for the team prior to the auction included running up to five events on the series to preserve their rookie status for the 2014 Pro Stock season. Jeff Dillman is a racer though, and a racer wants to be on the race track with his peers rather than sitting in the stands. The financial jump for a single car team from a Sportsman type race car which runs weekly at one track to a Pro Stock which tours to three provinces in a 12 week Summer stretch with not a lot of backing is huge. Dillman has proven himself in the Sportsman class, winning two Scotia Speedworld Sportsman championships and three Shriner’s Classic races, which is a record he shares with the late Terry Roma. Dillman also won the opening race on the NAPA Sportsman Series at Riverside Speedway last season. With not much left to do at the level he is at, Dillman is looking for a new challenge in the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour.

While seven of the 12 events on the series take place in Nova Scotia (three at Riverside International Speedway outside of Antigonish, four at Scotia Speedworld outside Enfield), five events are “away races” for the team. Three of those are in River Glade, New Brunswick at Petty International Raceway, one in Geary, New Brunswick at Speedway 660 and one outside of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island at Oyster Bed Speedway. With the operating costs higher on the Pro Stock compared to his former ride in a Sportsman car, these events may not happen for the team unless extra help can be found.

The team has also set up an event page on Facebook that you can share with your friends to raise awareness for the event!
