NOW CLOSED – Final Round Voting for 2018 TCM Best of Racing Awards

The final round of the TCM Best of Racing 2018 Awards are here!

This round will decide the winners of the TCM Most Popular Driver, Dulux Paints Breakout Performer, Kings County Performance Rookie of the Year and Finish Line Vinyl Design Best Looking Car Awards. Formats for each of those five awards are below.

Winners will be announced in late December as a part of the #TCMBestof2018 Year in Review.

VOTING CLOSED ON NOVEMBER 30TH AT NOON ATLANTIC

TCM Most Popular Driver Voting Format:

Round One – All of the 110 nominated drivers are placed on the same ballot. After Round One of voting, the field will be trimmed to the top 25 drivers for the second round of voting. Voting closes for Round One on Wednesday, October 31st at NOON Atlantic.

BACK FOR 2018 – for the first round only, because there are so many drivers on the ballot, you can select up to three drivers in the first round. You can select one if you wish but the option is open to select up to five from the list. This choice will be in play for the first round only. Team up with other drivers on your campaigns, get your fans and theirs to help out to get to the second round!

The second round will trim the field to ten eleven finalists (there was a tie for tenth in Round Two) to race for votes in the final round to ultimately win the TCM Most Popular Driver Award.

The Round Two Ballot for the TCM Best of 2018 Awards runs from Thursday, November 1st at 6pm Atlantic to Thursday, November 15th at Noon Atlantic.

The Round Three Ballot for the TCM Best of 2018 Awards runs from Thursday, November 15th at 6pm Atlantic to Friday, November 30th at Noon Atlantic.

Finish Line Vinyl Design Best Looking Car Awards

The nominees for this years award were placed into a Facebook photo album on our Facebook page, separated by division – Late Model and Support Class. A panel of 12 from outside the region whom are seeing the cars for the first time, had the chance to pick their favorite five cars, in no particular order. Each car they selected received one panel vote. The five cars that received the most panel votes are placed into the Fan Vote portion of the award.

As in previous years, the fan vote is worth 50% of scoring for this award. The panel’s final overall tally will count for the other half. The car which scores the most points over the two halves will win the award.

Ties are broken by the car who finished higher in the panel vote.

SCORING EXPLANATION – Dulux Paints Breakout Performer of the Year/Kings County Performance Rookie of the Year Award

With the expansion of the TCM Panel from three to five panelists, the scoring has changed slightly for 2018.

Each of the five panelists, who have been to the race tracks, seen the racers and have read/heard plenty about the nominees, were presented with a list of 20+ nominees for each category along a brief list of each of their accomplishments. They were asked to rank their favorite five which, in turn, narrowed the field down to the traditional final ten. Their top picks each received five points, second pick received four points, third received three, fourth got two points and their last pick got one point.

The fan vote winner will be awarded ten points, second on the fan vote will receive eight points, third will get six and so on with sixth place on back receiving zero from the fan vote.

In previous seasons, the fan vote comprised 25% of the vote with the three panelists each being responsible for 25%. It breaks down to about the same percentage under the new trial format, with the fans having a 30% weight on their vote compared to the panel’s 70%. A perfect score is now 35 points (five from each panelist plus ten from the fans).

Ties are broken by the amount of ballots a driver appears on, followed by the amount of top votes they received. Should drivers still be tied following that, the combined panel score will determine a winner.
