Eastern Super Mini Cup Series Set for Seven Race Schedule

Series Release

(MISCOUCHE, PE – April 11th, 2018) – The Eastern Super Mini Cup Series is excited to announce their schedule of racing events for the 2018 season. The Series, entering its seventh year as an organization touring Atlantic Canada, will feature seven events within New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island from May to October.

The schedule begins at the home track of the Eastern Super Mini Cup Series in 2018. In fact, Oyster Bed Speedway hosts the first five races of the season prior to the Series hitting the road at the end of the year. The season will open on Monday, May 21st as a part of Oyster Bed Speedway’s traditional season opening race on the Victoria Day Long Weekend. The Series will run four races under the Saturday night lights of the Oyster Bed Bridge, Prince Edward Island on June 16th, July 7th, July 21st and August 25th. The Season Opener for the Eastern Super Mini Cup Series has a post time of 2pm, while the Saturday evening shows on Prince Edward Island have a 6pm start time.

While drivers and teams will have to perform at Oyster Bed Speedway to build a championship run in 2018, the championship must be clinched on New Brunswick soil. The Eastern Super Mini Cup Series will return to Shediac’s CENTRE For Speed and the Atlantic Championships on Saturday, September 29th. Two weeks later, the Series will conclude their season and crown their champion at Speedway Miramichi during the ‘Chi City Showdown on Saturday, October 13th. Start times for both New Brunswick shows are 1pm and 2pm, respectively.

The schedule is one that has been met positive reaction from drivers, teams and fans alike.

“All of our drivers are really looking forward to racing this year ,” said Kirk Sheasgreen, Eastern Super Mini Cup Series Board of Directors Member and driver of the No. 40 car on the Series. “The seven race schedule spread over the summer and part of the fall season is perfect. It balances being able to race and enjoy summer weekends with family. That is what makes our series fun and affordable.”

Sheasgreen, who hails from Miramichi and was instrumental in bringing the Series to the Maritimes, is looking forward to seeing the return to Speedway Miramichi for 2018.

“I am excited to be able to race again in Miramichi, said Sheasgreen. “We would really like to thank Barry Richard of Speedway Miramichi for the opportunity to take part in the Chi City Showdown in 2018. Richard and John O’Shea did a lot of working getting this event of the ground last season and it was a great event in 2017. We will have a great car count for this event with some announcements on a sponsor for the event coming soon.”
