Troy Burke is the EIT Race Radios Hometown Hero Award Winner
The EIT Race Radios Hometown Hero Award is heading to Prince Edward Island.
When you bring up the attributes of being dedicated to the sport of stock car racing on Prince Edward Island and a strong supporter of racing at Oyster Bed Speedway, there are a number of drivers that fit the bill for EIT Race Radios Hometown Hero.
After deliberation, Tim’s Corner Motorsports is pleased to announce that Harrington, Prince Edward Island Late Model driver Troy Burke is the 2017 EIT Race Radios Hometown Hero Award recipient.
In the past two seasons alone, Burke has driven in three different classes at his home track of Oyster Bed Speedway. He has seen success in both the competitive Street Stock and Late Model classes, with the premiere division being his home in 2017. In ten starts, Burke scored a popular feature win on July 16th to go with six podium and nine top five finishes with four qualifying race wins.

Burke and team also made their Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour debut at Oyster Bed Speedway in August. While the end result was not what they aimed for on paper, the team got valuable experience with a car that will now ultimately be the headline division at the Island track. The team’s plan included venturing off-Island with the Pro Stock but re-scheduled weekly races saw rain dates interfere with those possible Pro Stock starts. While out of the championship discussion, Burke stuck with the Late Model division at home instead of heading across the Confederation Bridge. The decision to stay loyal to his home track, sponsors and fans resulted in a fourth place finish in the standings.
Burke and his team’s dedication to his home track and promotion of stock car racing on Prince Edward Island through various efforts away from the track have earned him the 2017 EIT Race Radios Hometown Hero Award. Congratulations!
Burke will receive his Tim’s Corner Motorsports Award Banner and EIT Race Radios package at the 44th Annual Radical Speedsport Show in Moncton, New Brunswick. The show takes place from April 13th to 15th at the Moncton Coliseum. Burke joins Harvey, New Brunswick’s Ryan Messer and Geary, New Brunswick’s Richard Atkinson as winners of the award.
