(SACKVILLE, NB) August 30th, 2017 – The Maritime League of Legends Tour will conclude a five race stretch with a stop at Speedway 660 this Saturday night, September 2nd, for the A.L. Gullison DKI 50 presented by Ideal Equipment. This is the eighth event on the 2017 calendar and is the penultimate event on the season for the Maritime League of Legends Tour. The race is a part of the opening night of stock car racing action on SpeedWeekend 2017. Racing begins at the Geary, New Brunswick oval on Saturday at 6:30pm.

Following last Sunday’s Seaside Chevrolet 50 presented by S. Hall Tire and Auto Repair Centre, it is still reigning champion Waylon Farrell (Conception Bay South, Newfoundland) holding court at the top of the standings. In fact, Farrell tacked on another six points to his lead with his third place finish at Petty International Raceway, making it a 50 point cushion with just two races to go on the schedule. In the Maritime League of Legends return to Speedway 660 in 2016, Farrell finished on the podium in third place.

Braden Langille (Shubenacadie, NS) has been racking up the victories on the Maritime League of Legends Tour in 2017. He has won in three of the last four appearances on the series, including a sweep of the pair of races at Petty International Raceway. Langille had an early exit to the race at Speedway 660 one year ago and will look to put that behind him as he looks to extend his win streak to three races on Saturday.

The defending winner of the A.L. Gullison DKI 50 presented by Ideal Equipment is Cory Hall (Jolicure, NB). Hall is well on his way to contending for the INEX International Semi Pro Legends championship, but only has one win to his credit on the Maritime League of Legends Tour in 2017. Hall may be out of championship contention, but he remains in the top ten in points with three races to go in the series.

With the top ten in the standings receiving recognition at the yearend awards banquet, there is still plenty to race for. Justin MacNeill (Bedford, NS) padded his advantage on third place less than one week ago at the Seaside Chevrolet 50 presented by S. Hall Tire and Auto Repair Centre after Adam Meehan (Rawdon Gold Mines, NS) was forced to pit in the second half of the event. Meehan is 17 points behind MacNeill with two races to go, but will also have to keep his sister Emily and Darren Sherwood (Cambridge-Narrows, NB) at bay. Emily sits five points behind her younger brother, while Sherwood is only ten championship markers out of third in the standings.

Kyle Shipley (Spryfield, NS) leads the Rookie of the Year standings with just two races to go over Kody Quinn (Sydney, NS) and Josh Langille (Coldbrook, NS). The trio is expected to run in their first Legend race at Speedway 660 on Saturday night. Joining them will be Michael Cormier (Grand Barachois, NB), who made his Maritime League of Legends Tour debut at Petty Raceway last Sunday.

Among those expected to compete for the crown in the A.L. Gullison DKI 50 presented by Ideal Equipment include Scotia Tire 50 winner Craig MacDonald (Waverley, NS), Kevin MacDonald (Antigonish, NS), Craig Chisholm (Antigonish, NS), Gary Dunning (Charlottetown, PE), Danny Harvey (Lantz, NS), Jeff Cruickshank (Hantsport, NS) and Will Farrell (Conception Bay South, NL). As of press time, the A.L. Gullison DKI 50 presented by Ideal Equipment is the only racing event on SpeedWeekend that will see representation from all four Atlantic Provinces.

Fans that cannot make it to Speedway 660 on Saturday evening can watch every lap live from the track online through Pit Row TV. The premium video broadcast will feature multiple camera angles of the action, live scoring, replays and a feed from the track’s public address system. This is the first time a production such as this has taken place of a stock car race in Atlantic Canada. Fans can tune in to all the racing action this weekend at PitRow.tv.

The racing action to kick off SpeedWeekend 2017 begins on Saturday at 6:30pm. The A.L. Gullison DKI 50 presented by Ideal Equipment will be a part of an action filled card that also includes the $5,000-to-win Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman 150, the MJS Holdings Limited East Coast Mini Stock Tour Pub’s Drive Thru Bottle Exchange 50 and the first of two Tim’s Corner Motorsports Bandolero Blast events of the weekend. Grandstand gates open at 5pm on Saturday with pit gates opening for competitors at 9:30am.
