Oyster Bed Speedway
Oyster Bed Speedway Surf & Turf “With a Heavy Foot and Heavy Hearts the Show must go on…”

Once again Oyster Bed Speedway is under caution for rain. The Red Flag has not flown yet on the Saturday night race card scheduled for a 6PM start. All four local classes including Mini Stock, Outlaw, Street Stock and Late Model are on deck.
The feature race on the evening’s card will be the Palmer Automotive & Truck Centre Late Model Super Series 100 Lap Feature.
Former Division Champion Matt Palmer will be in the driver’s seat of his Late Model with a heavy heart after the passing of his Father Marven Palmer.
On a Face Book post the former Champion stressed the importance being at the Speedway for his Dad saying, “You would want me at one the biggest race of the year this weekend.”
Palmer is one of only three drivers in the Division with a feature win so far this season. The others include Mark LeClair and Troy Burke. The trio have recorded wins in 5 of the last 6 races.
The best battles on the track so far this season have been between LeClair and Palmer. The two have an uncanny knack of finding each other on the race track which has resulted in some of the most entertaining racing in the Division. This has resulted in over half their races ending in one finishing right behind the other. Out of the four combined feature wins they have together they finished 1-2 in three of them.

The close Family ties for Palmer Boys Racing extend further into the Outlaw Division with Marven’s Brother Kendall and Nephew Coady Palmer. Kendall heads into the evenings race card leading the division in points in search for his third Title in Outlaw. The Veteran continues to roll only finishing outside of the top three twice this season.
Nephew, Coady made a jump from 7th in points all the way to 3rd following his best night at the track last time out. Not only did he score his second heat win of the season, he capped of his night with his first Feature win of the season and his third podium finish on the night.
One doesn’t have to look far to see the amount of support that has already poured out over Social Media for this beloved race team. And so long as the skies don’t pour on the Speedway I know the support at the track for the team will be overwhelming.
I mentioned it earlier this season following a courageous Feature win in Late Model By Matt, that when faced with adversity this team pulls together when most teams would’ve given up.
A moment of Remembrance is planned prior to the start of the races.
