East Coast Mini Stock Tour to Debut Saturday at Speedway 660

Series Release/Photo by McCarthy Photographic

(Dartmouth, NS – June 21, 2017) – The MJS Holdings Limited East Coast Mini Stock Tour, formerly the Maritime Mini Stock Tour, is heading to New Brunswick’s Capital Region on Saturday, June 24th for their inaugural race. Speedway 660 in Geary will host the Gilmet Designs 50, the first round on the 2017 series, on Saturday evening. Post time for the evening’s racing is 6:30pm.

Over a dozen of the region’s top Four Cylinder Honda drivers will make the trek to “the Geary woods” for the 50-lap feature. Mike Weagle (Salisbury, NB) will look to defend his home province’s turf after scoring a win last September during the track’s Speedweekend event. Patricia Taylor (Salisbury, NB) and Mike Edwards (Penobsquis, NB) are also looking to take home the inaugural event on the series with a win under the lights on Saturday evening.

Neil Miousse may have the most experience of any driver on the MJS Holdings Limited East Coast Mini Stock Tour roster at Speedway 660. Miousse is a former full time competitor and multiple time feature winner in the Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter class at the track before moving to Kentville, Nova Scotia at the start of the 2016 season. Miousse moved up to the Honda Mini Stock ranks for 2017 and scored his first podium finish at Scotia Speedworld on June 2nd. His experience at the track should come in handy when the green flag flies in the Gilmet Designs 50.

Tim Webster (Beaver Bank, NS) holds the hottest hand of any Mini Stock driver and, for that matter, any driver in Atlantic Canada heading into Saturday night. Webster has scored four wins on the season in point racing competition in four starts and is hoping his win streak remains intact on Saturday in his first start at Speedway 660. Two-time Thunder champion Dave Matthews (Kennetcook, NS), Drew MacEachern (Dartmouth, NS), Mark Williams (Elmsdale, NS), Jesse Deveau (Greenwood, NS), Joey Lawson (Porter’s Lake, NS), Bob Landry (Havre Boucher, NS), Darren Flemming (Shubenacadie, NS) and Jerome Tracey (Port Hawkesbury, NS) are among those who have signaled intentions of making the haul to Speedway 660 on Saturday.

The MJS Holdings Limited East Coast Mini Stock Tour was scheduled to kick off on Saturday, June 3rd at Shediac’s CENTRE For Speed but rain canceled the event. Officials have not been able to work with track management to find a suitable date to reschedule the event as of press time.

The Gilmet Designs 50 for the MJS Holdings Limited East Coast Mini Stock Tour is a part of a full card of stock car racing at Speedway 660 on Saturday, June 24th that also includes the Re/Max Group Four Realty Pro Stock, Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman and Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter divisions. Pit gates for competitors open at 1pm, grandstand gates for spectators at 5pm with racing beginning at 6:30pm. Adult grandstand ticket prices are $14; youth tickets for ages 13 to 15 are $10 and children 12 and under are admitted free of charge. Tickets are available at the gate on race day.
