Maritime News and Notes – Monday, March 11th

So it’s been a busy end of the week and weekend from around Atlantic Canadian stock car circles. Here’s a bit of news you may, or may not have missed over the past half week.

Obviously, the big news. Speedway 660 has changed ownership effective Thursday to the Roy (Max and Shawna) and Foley (Debbie and Gary) families. More info can be found in their news release here.

Ryan Mackintosh of Amherst, Nova Scotia was a big winner this weekend by picking up back-to-back wins on Friday and Saturday nights in the Semi Pro Legends division at Concord Speedway in North Carolina.

As seen in the story photo, Craig Slaunwhite was at the 30th Annual Atlantic Outdoor Sports and RV Show this past weekend to unveil his new paint scheme for the 2013 season. The scheme is an invert from the scheme ran in previous seasons while the car is a brand new piece outfitted with a McCulloch chassis. Slaunwhite and the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour drivers begin their quest for the championship on Sunday, May 19th at Scotia Speedworld.

Also at the show was Adam Meehan and his #6 Bandolero and the #75 car, driven by “Miss Rawdon Rocket” Emily Meehan, who was away in a warmer destination and could not be at the show. The team is excited for the upcoming season, one in which Adam hopes he can contend for the championship at Scotia Speedworld in. Their season begins May 26th.

In addition to the cars on display, the series promoted a giveaway which will see one race fan win four weekend passes, food at the track and two nights hotel accommodation for the Atlantic CAT 250 weekend at Scotia Speedworld in August. Riverside International Speedway posted this on their website and Facebook pages last week regarding camping and reserved seating:

Renewal Forms for Premium Seats have been mailed so if you have not received yours OR if you want to add your name to the cancellation list then please email us today at mclean@riversidespeedway.ca. AND we will be mailing IWK 250 Campground Reservation forms in the next 30 days; if the address recorded on your 2012 form is current you will automatically receive the form and be able to reserve the same spot for 2013; if not, then please email us ASAP at campingiwk250@riversidespeedway.ca.
