Mooney Is Money in John Ross and Sons RWD Derby at NSPE

Andrew Mooney (Onslow) held a hot hand Wednesday night during the John Ross and Sons Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition Rear Wheel Drive Demolition Derby.
Mooney was the last car under power to take the top spot in the first of two demolition events on the week but it was not after long before his car caught fire. Mooney quickly bailed from the car and the Bible Hill Fire Brigade was quick to extinguish the flames.
Mooney outlasted a field of eight including second place Dave Clark (North River) and third place Brian Currie (Masstown). The field also featured Tom Manley’s sponsored cars for Derby veterans Jamie Cook (Truro) and Andrew Spears (North River), Blake Jennings (Masstown), Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour point leader Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro) and Terry Nelson (Truro), who entered his 91st career derby on the night prior to his 50th birthday. Kevin Grant (East Mountain) had a starter break on his entry and did not compete in the derby.
The derby only took a few minutes to complete in one of the quickest derby events in recent years.
The John Ross and Sons Front Wheel Drive Demolition Derby takes place on Friday evening in the infield of Truro Raceway at 7pm, with the return of the Truck Pulls on Saturday. Registration for Truck Pulls begin at 12pm with the first pull at 3pm.
