Track Release

JAMES RIVER, NS (July 29, 2016) – Management at Riverside International Speedway are pleased to welcome Bumper to Bumper to the facility’s corporate family as title sponsor for the Bumper to Bumper 300 NASCAR Pinty’s Series race on August 20.

“We are thrilled to have a national brand like Bumper to Bumper on board for this event,” said Paul McLean, general manager of Riverside International Speedway. “This alliance is a perfect fit for Bumper to Bumper, for us, and for our fans.”

“We are very proud to associate ourselves with such an important event,” said Gary O’Connor, President and Chief Operating Officer of Uni-Select, Automotive Canada. “This strategic decision truly positions us as Canada’s Parts People: close to its roots, close to its communities. Tied into our sponsorship of Kevin Lacroix, new up and coming driver of the Bumper to Bumper No. 74 car, we believe we are spreading the word of this premium brand right to the heart of Canadians. We truly are Canada’s Parts People, and this new image will help us communicate the message that we value our Canadian roots and values.”

The Bumper to Bumper 300 is the only NASCAR Pinty’s Series event in Canada east of Québec; the NASCAR Pinty’s Series is the only national touring series in the country. The Bumper to Bumper 300 is the 10th annual visit for the series to Riverside, which enjoys the longest standing affiliation with NASCAR of any track in Canada.

In the last nine years the race has seen seven different winners including Antigonish’s Donald Chisholm who visited Victory Lane in 2014. Other winners include Mark Dilley, Don Thomson, Jr., Andrew Ranger, and Jason Hathaway. DJ Kennington and defending race winner Scott Steckly have two wins each at Riverside in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series.

Chisholm is the most recent winner at Riverside adding to his stout resume as the region’s most accomplished active racer when he won the coveted IWK 250 super late model race on July 16.

Riverside is a favourite stop for NASCAR Pinty’s Series teams and fans with its high banks, fast track, and modern facility. Modelled after legendary Bristol Motor Speedway, Tennessee, when it was built in 1969, Riverside’s infrastructure was completely rebuilt in 2006, but maintained the renowned characteristics of the 1/3-mile oval with 440-foot-long straight stretches banked at six degrees, joined by turns banked at 14 degrees.

Reserved and general admission tickets are available at or by calling 902-863-2410 (Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to Noon & 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.).

ABOUT BUMPER TO BUMPER– Canada’s Parts People.

Bumper to Bumper was introduced to the Canadian automotive aftermarket in 1977 and began with two stores.
