Track Release/Photo

(June 11, 2016) On Saturday, for the first time in the 23 year history of Speedway 660, two young ladies won feature races on the same night. Destiny Enkel, from Saint John won the street stock feature, while Alexandra O’Blenis, from Boundary Creek came home first in sportsman.

Destiny Enkel has had some solid runs in the past at Speedway 660, but on Saturday night she won her first ever DMR Auto Sales Street Stock 30 lap feature. Enkel had to outrun defending champion Rob Raynes and five time champion Rick Cashol to get the win. Benji Ruff and Cashol won the street stock heat races.

“This is unbelievable, the car was great tonight and to get the win over these two incredible veterans is a dream come true” said Enkel from the Riverview Ford Victory Lane. “Rob helps us out a lot with the car so this win is as much his as mine and it sure was a little nerve racking late in the race knowing he was closing in on me quickly.”

The Martins Home Heating Sportsman 40 lap feature was a battle between daughter and father. Alexandra O’Blenis outran her Dad Dave to pick up her third career sportsman feature win and first of the season. Alexandra and Richard Atkinson won the sportsman heat races.

“We spent a lot of time working on the car this week and it really paid off tonight with a win” said Alexandra O’Blenis. “To race up front with my Dad was so much fun and to beat him is something I’ll always remember and never let him forget.”

Lonnie Sommerville became the first Re/Max Group Four Realty Pro Stock driver to win two 50 lap features this season. Sommerville finished ahead of John Rankin and rookie Brent Roy who had his best ever pro stock finish. Dustin Tucker and Matt Harris won the pro stock heat races.

Brody Levesque won his first Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter feature of the season. Levesque was able to hold off Bryan Suttie and Matt Crocker to get the win. Crocker and Allison Hall were sharp shooter heat race winners.

Next weekend Speedway 660 will hold the Martins Home Heating Sportsman 125. The Saturday night race will be the first of three big sportsman races in the Geary Woods.
