Lucas Oil 100 Kicks Off 2016 Pro Stock Tour Season Saturday at Scotia Speedworld

(Halifax, NS, May 17, 2016) The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour is greased up and ready for the Lucas Oil 100 this Saturday at Scotia Speedworld. The Lucas Oil 100 will open the 16th season of the elite stock car racing series. The season opener will launch the 12-race schedule that will take the Tour to five Maritime markets throughout the summer. Atlantic Tiltload Qualifying for the Lucas Oil 100 gets underway at 4:00 PM with Grandstands gates opening at 1:00 PM.
The Exide Batteries Rookie of the Year battle enters round one on Saturday. The 2016 season is slated to see at least two rookies go at it for the prestigious title. Noel Road, Nova Scotia’s Harry Ross White and Marshfield, Prince Edward Island’s Nevin Scott have officially signaled intentions to run the full Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour schedule. Harry Ross White, commonly known around racing circles as “HOSS,” has an extensive racing resume which include accolades in Street Stock and Sportsman. Scott has made his name in recent seasons in the Street Stock division at Oyster Bed Speedway.
More fresh faces are expected in the field on Saturday. Jarrett Butcher (Porter’s Lake, NS) will be looking to emulate the success of big brother Cole as he makes his Series debut. Jarrett Butcher is a multi-time Champion in both Bandolero and Legend Cars and is the reigning Maritime League of Legends Champion. Nicholas Naugle (Dartmouth, NS) will also make his first Series appearance at the Lucas Oil 100. Naugle is a former Canadian Legend Champion and has won multiple Bandolero and Legend features throughout Canada and the US.
Byron Bartlett (Rothesay, NB) will make his return to Pro Stock racing Saturday at Scotia Speedworld. Bartlett is a former MASCAR competitor who has been spending recent seasons in the Sportsman ranks in his home province of New Brunswick.
Familiar faces the likes of 2015 Series Champion Donald Chisholm (Antigonish, NS) and his Nova Racing team-mate George Koszkulics (New Glasgow, NS) are just two of many veterans expected to take the first green flag of the season. Also expected are Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS) who has won two Tour titles (2010, ’12), Two-time IWK 250 winner Kent Vincent (Crapaud, PE), 2014 Rookie of the Year Sarah McKay (Quispamsis, NB), 2015 Lucas Oil 100 victor Dylan Blenkhorn (Truro, NS) and many multi-time Series feature winners.
Joe Chisholm and the gang from Race Time Radio will back on the road with the Tour for six events, beginning with Saturday’s Lucas Oil 100. The Maritime League of Legends will kick off their 2016 campaign with a 50 lap feature prior to the Pro Stock feature.
Admission for Saturday’s season opener is $25.00 for adults; $5.00 for youth; pit admission is $30.00. Children 7 and under are admitted for free. Tickets will be available at the gates on race day (Cash Only).
Sunday, May 22nd will launch the 2016 season for Scotia Speedworld’s Weekly Racing Series, racing starts at 2:00 PM.
