TCM Fan Favorite Results for Tracks, Series and Food – Scotia Speedworld Joins Winners List

Four 2014 Winners Reclaim TCM Best of Award Victories
Scotia Speedworld joined Petty International Raceway, Riverside International Speedway and the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour as winners of the 2015 TCM Best of Awards for Fan Favorite Short Tracks and Series in 2015.
Scotia Speedworld, the 3/10-mile oval that sits in the shadows of the Halifax International Airport, edged out Speedway 660 in Geary, New Brunswick for their first TCM Best of Awards banner. The vote, which took place during the first round of the voting for the annual awards, saw Nova Scotia’s only oval track operating on a weekly basis, take 39% of the vote, just 37 votes more than the 2014 winner of the award. Prince Edward Island’s Oyster Bed Speedway was a close third, taking 25% of the vote.
Scotia Speedworld offers racing every Friday night in season and hosts six divisions of racing on a regular basis – the Dartmouth Dodge Sportsman, Strictly Hydraulics Legends, Coors Light Trucks, Chickenburger Thunder and Lightning and Hydraulics Plus Bandoleros. The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock and Atlantic Tiltload Maritime League of Legends Tours make Scotia Speedworld regular stops on their schedules and the venue is the only east coast venue to host the Maple Leaf Monster Jam Tour.
Petty International Raceway picked up where they left off last year, once again taking 68% of the vote to win the TCM Fan Favorite Monthly Short Track in a landslide over newcomer Eastbound Park, dirt oval Valley Raceway and Lake Doucette Motor Speedway. The margin of victory for Petty Raceway was 558 votes.
Located in the shadows of Moncton, New Brunswick, Petty International Raceway has four house divisions – the Leisure Days RV Bandoleros, Mister Transmission Mini Stock, CMax Street Stocks and Sportsman. The high banked, River Glade, New Brunswick oval also hosts four touring series each season: the Atlantic Modified Tour, Atlantic Tiltload Maritime League of Legends, Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour and Eastern Super Mini Cup Series. A first for the facility in 2015, Petty Raceway hosted a Demolition Derby and Women on Wheels event, which was a hit with fans and competitors alike. The track operates race events from May to October, presenting eight races in 2015.
While New Brunswick ovals Speedway Miramichi and Shediac’s CENTRE For Speed made gains in the TCM Fan Favorite Special Events Track Award standings, it was Riverside International Speedway roaring to their second consecutive TCM Best of Awards Banner. Riverside International Speedway took 47% of the total vote, cruising to a 203 vote victory over Speedway Miramichi, CENTRE for Speed and Cape Breton Miners Memorial Speedway.
Riverside International Speedway hosts events on four weekends a season with the July running of the IWK 250 for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour and the August edition of the Wounded Warriors Project 300 for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series serving as marquee events for the speedway. In addition to the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series and Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour, the high banked James River, Nova Scotia oval also plays host to the NAPA Sportsman Series and the Atlantic Tiltload Maritime League of Legends Tour.
The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour rolled to an easy victory in the TCM Fan Favorite Touring Series category for a second straight year. The advantage the biggest Maritime based touring series had on its competition was 234 votes, but behind the competition was much closer with only 90 votes separating the second place NAPA Sportsman Series and fifth place Eastern Super Mini Cup Series. The Atlantic Tiltload Maritime League of Legends Tour was third, with the Atlantic Modified Tour in fourth. The series finished in the same order in 2014, albeit with a wider margin between second and fifth in the voting.
The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour visited five Maritime tracks in 2015 – Scotia Speedworld, Riverside International Speedway, Petty International Raceway, Oyster Bed Speedway and Speedway 660. Between the five tracks, 12 events were contested, which produced eight different winners. In the final event, the Dartmouth Dodge 200 at Scotia Speedworld, four drivers went in with a mathematical chance at the title and while Dylan Blenkhorn and Cole Butcher put on a show fans will be talking about for years up front, it was Donald Chisholm clinching his first series title.
When it comes to quick eats, Speedway 660’s “Speedway Fries” are once again the king of the mountain. The golden, deep fried delights took 34% of the total vote, besting another potato treat in Scotia Speedworld’s Poutine by 138 votes. Oyster Bed Speedway’s Popcorn Chicken earned another third place finish, falling to Scotia Speedworld’s Poutine in the final tally by just ten votes. Riverside Speedway’s Footlong Hotdog and Eastbound Park’s Wedges completed the top five.
All tracks and series have received their award banners produced by Infinite Creative Solutions and McCarthy Photographic at their respective awards banquets, while Speedway 660 will receive their award for the TCM Fan Favorite Short Track Food in January at their awards banquet at the Fredericton Inn.
