“I always had a passion for racing ever since I was small, but being on the island of Newfoundland we didn’t have many forms of competitive racing, 2015 has been a milestone year and looking forward to 2016 as we work on more NASCAR appearances” (Josh Collins)
Josh’s career in racing started in 2003 competing in local Autocross which progressed to oval dirt track racing in Avondale with 4 cylinder Thunder Cars which evolved to the Super Stock V8’s in 2008. In late 2010 Asphalt racing became a reality for Collins and his team #56 when they joined Thunder Valley Speedway, Bishop Falls Sportsman Series. This progressed to Pro Stock and many trips to other speedways off the island. In 2013 the highlight of Josh’s career became reality
When Team #56 raced 8 nights at the New Smyrna Speedway for the 2013 World Series of Asphalt in New Symrna Beach, Florida. The team being the first entry from Newfoundland and Labrador finished 14th overall out of 42 teams and is now an annual race that Collins competes in.
Things started to move in the right direction in 2014 and was the most successful season for team #56 with the opening of a new state-of-the Art Facility called Eastbound International Speedway in Avondale, NL. With this new track Collins was able to have a professional racing environment, which the team were accustomed to at other International Speedways.
2015 Collins wanted to try and make a successful run at the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in the USA. With a busy work life and a family with two small children this was put off which has now opened the door for the opportunity to compete in the Canadian Tire NASCAR Series.
