Grant Outlasts Higgins in NSPE Rear Wheel Drive Demolition Derby

The opening night of the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition John Ross & Sons Demolitions turned into a battle between heavyweights in the motorsports discipline.

Kevin Grant of East Mountain took home the win in the Rear Wheel Drive Demolition on Wednesday, outlasting Tim Higgins of Cole Harbour, who had been fighting starter issues all night long. Ironically, Grant drove the Batmobile to the victory, a car Higgins built and has since been through eight Demolition events.

The two battled it out for the top spot after Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour driver Dylan Blenkhorn lost steering in his car and had to settle for third.

Terry Nelson, Blake Jennings, Brian Currie and Jamie Cook completed the field of seven drivers who started the derby. Grant had a second car, slated to be driven by Mark Christie, but an ignition issue kept the car from entering the ring.

The Front Wheel Drive Demolition Derby presented by John Ross & Sons will take place on Thursday, August 27th at 7pm at the Truro Raceway on the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition Grounds.
