Dulux Paints Three Stars – Weekend Number Three of 2018
The popular Three Stars selection returns to TimsCorner.ca this season thanks to the folks at Dulux Paints and Dulux Paints Bayers Lake. The Dulux Paints Three Stars honors three drivers who put up a performance from the weekend previous, on or off the track, that is worth some extra kudos.
Our Dulux Paints Three Stars this week focuses on first wins. Honorable mention goes to Cole Butcher, who dueled with Ben Rowe at Petty International Raceway for his first career Pro All Stars Series victory but we wanted to shift the focus on three winners on their respective Weekly Racing Series programs in the region.

THIRD STAR – CURTIS COLLINS OF SAINT JOHN, NB

For those that have watched Curtis Collins race his way up from a Sharp Shooter to a Sportsman at Speedway 660 knew it was only a matter of time before he found victory lane in a Late Model.
Collins, who is the reigning Rookie of the Year in the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman class, set sail up front in last Sunday’s feature, gliding to the win in the 40-lap, caution free affair. As the field closed on him in the waning laps, Collins kept his cool up front, telling Wade Wilson he had saved some for the end should Greenlaw and friends get close.
Is this the start of a championship run for Collins in 2018?! Keep an eye on the youngster as the season goes on.
SECOND STAR – DARREN FLEMMING OF RAWDON, NS

Following in the footsteps of his father Dwayne, Darren Flemming is now a winner at Scotia Speedworld in the Toursec Thunder division.
It was not easy for the sophomore driver as he had to hold off two of the best in Civic Nation at Scotia Speedworld in multi-time champion Dave Matthews and Chris Hatcher. The pair battled behind Flemming while in turn getting bigger in the rearview of the No. 22. Flemming did what he had to do to cross the line first ahead of the pair who battled for the 2017 championship at the track.
Not to mention, he did it in Old Faithful. The car, which was built by Scott Williams for the 2017 season, is the same one Williams rolled over last year at Lake Doucette Motor Speedway last September. As you can see in the Mike McCarthy victory lane shot, the car still shows some battle scars. The team is in the process of building a new car, but what replace what isn’t broke, right?!
FIRST STAR – BRYAN SUTTIE OF KESWICK, NB

You never forget your first feature win. For Bryan Suttie, he has been waiting six years for that moment he’ll never forget.
Suttie, who was in the hunt on Opening Day at Speedway 660 for his first Sharp Shooter win, parked the No. 51 in Victory Lane during Kids Day. Suttie battled with BJ Gillespie early and was able to get away after Gillespie developed issues on a restart. At the end, Suttie held off a determined Scott Kennie, who was also looking to punch his first ticket into victory lane.
Suttie showed emotion in victory lane, from the excitement of climbing out of the car to some tears of joy when it started to sink in that all the work in the shop had finally paid off. Suttie has witnessed all the ups and downs this sport can provide over the last six years and now he’s been able to experience the ultimate thrill of beating his peers at one of the most difficult short tracks to win at in Atlantic Canada!
