Nearly a dozen Maritime racing teams are expected to travel to Florida in the February to tackle the world’s best short track racing competition during Speedweeks 2013. Whether it is a Late Model at New Smyrna Speedway or a Legend or Bandolero at Auburndale Speedway, all the eyes of the short track world will be looking South this winter.
We are making the over 2,000 mile trek south to cover these teams and keep everyone at home updated. While our coverage will be anchored at Auburndale Speedway with over a half dozen Bandolero and Legend team, the goal is to jet over to New Smyrna Speedway once or twice to catch the action of the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing and to track the progress of six-time Pro Stock champion Wayne Smith. With updates on TimsCorner.ca along with daily photos and audio interviews along with comprehensive post-week coverage from the biggest week of short track stock car racing.
Confirmed entries eying a run to Auburndale Speedway include 2012 Canadian INEX Bandolero champions Cole Boudreau (Outlaws, Chipman, NB) and Braden Langille (Bandits, Shubenacadie, NS) along with 2011 Canadian INEX Outlaw Champion Cole Tanner (Shubenacadie, NS). Both Boudreau and Tanner ran the event last year out of the Chris Woods Racing and Repair stables while 2013 will be the first crack at Auburndale for Langille.
The Legends ranks from Atlantic Canada will also be well represented and will be led by 2012 Maritime League of Legends and Scotia Speedworld Weekly Legends champion Cole Butcher of Porter’s Lake, NS. His brother (and two-time Speedworld Bandolero titlist) Jarrett Butcher will be at the helm of a Legend at Auburndale and will be joined by fellow Nova Scotians Richard Salter (Centre Burlington) and “The Legend” Cy Harvey (Elmsdale). Harvey took part in last year’s event at Auburndale.
More drivers and teams are rumored to be heading to Auburndale and the number of expected Atlantic Canadian entries could grow to double digits by the time the calendar turns to February.
We are also looking for partners to help us offset the costs of taking our unique brand of Maritime racing coverage with our boys to Florida. In return? Exposure to the most brand loyal stock car racing fans of not only Atlantic Canada, but across the country and beyond as they check in to keep track of the Maple Leaf in Florida!
