Track Release/Photo by McCarthy Photographic

(HALIFAX, NS – August 16th, 2017) – The CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series heads into the homestretch of the 2017 season Friday with INEX & AMP Energy Night. Three divisions will see extended distance features, the Hydraulics Plus Beginner Bandoleros will run a 20 lap feature and Bandoleros will have a 25 lap main event. The Strictly Hydraulics Legends will race a 50 lap feature. The Toursec Lightning and Pulse Heavy Duty Truck divisions will also compete in 25-lap features on Friday evening.

For those who are not familiar, INEX is the International Sanctioning body of Legend and Bandolero cars. INEX was developed to promote and organize Legend and Bandolero car racing worldwide.

The Strictly Hydraulics Legends will not only race with major national championship implications on the line with their Nationals Qualifier but the 50-lap feature is sure to have a bearing on crowning a track champion. International INEX Semi Pro point leader Cory Hall (Jolicure, NB) and teammate Paul Goulden (Shelburne) were both involved in separate incidents on Lap 10 of the last feature for the weekly division on August 4th. It handed the point lead over to Adam Meehan (Rawdon Gold Mines), who leads Goulden by a slim three point margin. Danny Harvey (Lantz) sits third in the standings, 11 points from the lead and three points up on Hall. “Miss Rawdon Rocket” Emily Meehan is fifth, 12 points off Hall’s fourth place pace. With five races to go including Friday night, the Strictly Hydraulics Legends championship is well up for grabs between these five drivers.

The Hydraulics Plus Bandolero Bandits and Outlaws will run in an extended 25-lap feature on Friday night. Nathan Langille (Coldbrook) leads the Bandit standings for drivers aged 8-11 years, but Owen Mahar (Hubley) continues to chip away at his lead, which stands at seven points. With only three Bandolero races left on the schedule, Colton Noble (Upper Nine Mile River) finds himself 17 points out of the lead and will need to get up on the wheel like he did last Friday night to put himself in contention.

The Hydraulics Plus Bandolero Outlaw division, for drivers aged 12 years and up, is the closest point battle within the CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series featuring a trio of top young talent in the region. Josh Langille (Coldbrook) leads the chase by three points over last Friday’s winner Austin MacDonald (Pictou) with reigning titlist Sam Rogers (Lower Onslow) a single point off MacDonald. While Langille has three feature wins and MacDonald has two, Rogers has yet to win a feature. The extended laps on Friday night will sure play into the championship chase with the trio.

The Hydraulics Plus Beginner Bandolero class will run an extended 20-lap feature. The division features drivers new to the sport in their first or second year of competition. Brooke Dowe (Bedford) will look to become the first female driver to win a Bandolero championship at Scotia Speedworld and she has a comfortable 21 point lead on the tie for second featuring Dawson Noble (Upper Nine Mile River) and Dylan MacMillan (Glenholme). Matthew Rushton (Dartmouth) has lit up the division for four wins, but is running out of races to make up a 42 point gap to the championship leader.

Admission for the CARSTAR Weekly Racing Series is $15 for adults, $5 for youth (8-15yrs), children seven and under are free all season at Scotia Speedworld! Grandstands open at 5:00PM with racing slated for 7:00PM. For more information on this event or the 2017 season please visit www.scotiaspeedworld.ca
