Hall Wins at Texas Motor Speedway for Sixth Win of 2017
Cory Hall’s chase of the INEX International Semi Pro championship has come to Fort Worth, Texas and his week has started on a winning note.
Hall, from Jolicure, New Brunswick, drove to the win in the 25-lap Semi Pro feature on Tuesday to kick off Battle at the Big Top V Presented by Fort Worth Indian Motorcycle at Lil Texas Motor Speedway. Hall set fast time on the 1/5-mile track and led all 25-laps en route to the win, holding off Colorado’s Darrell Stewart Jr and local driver Tyson Goudy with a late race restart. The field featured seven cars, which is expected to grow over the five day event.
“The car was really quick right off the trailer and I really like this race track,” said Hall. “Cheryl from Ladyga Motorsports was very helpful at getting me accustomed to the track. We were able to get out early in the race. I knew with the caution with one to go that I had to be smooth and we were able to bring home the win. Thanks to G&S Racing, King Racing, Goulden’s Shell, Paul and Barb Goulden and my Mother and Father for letting me go racing. Hopefully we can continue this momentum and bring home some more wins this week.”
The win is Hall’s sixth of the season. The driver of the #08 S Hall Tire Muffler and Auto Repair Centre Legend took home four of five wins in full fields at INEX Winter Nationals at Citrus County Speedway (FL) in February and won on opening weekend at Concord Speedway (NC) in March for a 97 point win. To win an International championship, INEX combines a driver’s best 18 finishes, their best National Qualifer and their finish at Asphalt Nationals, taking place in October at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, to make 20 races on the season.
Day One saw a total of 38 cars compete across five features with drivers hailing from California to New Brunswick. Sam Mayer (Young Lions), Brody Pope (Pro), Tim Brockhouse (Masters) and Kade Brown (Combined Bandolero) also came home as winners on Day One.
Racing continues at the Texas Motor Speedway for Battle at the Big Top V on Wednesday evening at 9:30pm Atlantic, Thursday at 2:30pm Atlantic, Friday at 11:30am Atlantic and wraps up Saturday at 6:30pm Atlantic.
